Hidden Faces - 2017 Victorian Salon des Refuses

Charcoal portrait of Usain Bolt - The Greatest sprinter of all time. I am a runner and an artist and the fastest man on earth inspired me to paint his portrait.
I met Usain Bolt when he was visiting Melbourne competing and team captain of the Bolt All- Stars at Nitro Athletics Melbourne.

EXHIBITIONS

Hidden Faces is an exhibition of portraits by Victorian artists, originally submitted for a number of national portrait prizes, which were either not hung in the 'official' exhibitions or have not been shown in Melbourne.

On display is a diverse array of exciting, diverse and witty artworks by Victorian artists whose talent deserves to be seen and appreciated.

Now well established in Melbourne's arts calendar, Hidden Faces unveils a broad spectrum of entertaining, challenging and insightful paintings of such well-known subjects as performers: Noni Hazlehurst, Scott Major, Merlyn Quaife, David 'Splatt' Rosenberg and Dan Sultan; sport icons: Gavin Ballis, Barry Stoneham, Usain Bolt and John Bertrand; artists: Godwin Bradbeer, Mick Connelly and Matthew Harding; author Rosalie Ham; filmmaker Kitty-May Allwood, professors: Allan Fels, Damien Kingsbury and Malcolm Hopwood. 

Now in its sixteenth year, Hidden Faces continues to reveal the amazing portraiture talent in Victoria.

Outstanding works by Raelene Sharp, Jim van Geet, Jaq Grantford, John Mandich, Amaya Iturri, Ross Cockle, Joanne Morris, Miklos Szilagyi, Todd Simpson, Janne Kearney and Steve May, to name a few. The People's Choice Award is always a visitor favourite.

The exhibition is on now at Pan Pacific Melbourne and runs through to November 16.
